VP - Data Management & Governance

Location: New York or New Jersey

Full time / Contract to hire

Overview:
This role focuses on building and enforcing data governance framework to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective management across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data governance policies and standards.
• Develop data classification, ownership, and lifecycle management processes.
• Drive data quality management and compliance with regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
• Manage metadata, data catalogs, lineage, and documentation.
• Lead governance forums and partner with security and technology teams.
• Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
• Oversee governance tools and ensure consistent data management practices.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in data governance or management (leadership experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance standards.
• Experience with data cataloging, quality, and governance tools.
• Insurance industry experience a plus.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
• Certifications such as CDMP or DM-BOK preferred.
